Rotonda Homenaje

Union, Courage and Faith in the Andes
It was an immense honour and a deeply moving experience to take part in the creation of a public space that pays tribute to the survivors and those who did not return from the Andes in 1972.
As a landscape designer, this project meant contributing to the preservation of the memory of an event that profoundly marked both the country and the world. Today, the roundabout in Carrasco has become a place of reflection, where every visitor can remember the victims and accompany their families in thought.
The story of the Andes plane crash is a testament to courage and the human spirit. Resilience is the bond that connects those who faced this tragedy with those who remained in the mountains. The corten steel spiral sculpture, represents the airplane fuselage and stands as an international symbol of strength, hope, and life, commemorating one of the most powerful feats of endurance in contemporary history.
