Los Olivos I

This project took shape from the very first stages of construction, before the foundations of the house were layed. This early involvement allowed for a design fully integrated with the architecture. Collaboration with the architectural studio was key to creating an outdoor space that enhances every corner of the home and makes the most of its surroundings.
A distinctive feature of this project was that the contract for the purchase of the land stipulated that the main garden had to be located at the front of the house. We embraced this as an opportunity, since the north-facing orientation provides ideal sunlight for a vibrant, lively garden.
The natural slope of the terrain in relation to the street became an advantage, inspiring a clear and inviting pathway leading to the main entrance—an approach that is both functional and visually engaging.
The selection of native species was essential to create a resilient and sustainable garden. Calliandra parvifolia and white garden laurels were specially chosen for this project. Buddleja davidii, known as butterfly bushes, bring color and movement, attracting butterflies that enrich the sensory experience of the space.
The soft cream colour of the house’s walls inspired the use of wood and corten steel to define the curved planting beds, adding warmth and character to the design. Raised wooden planters in the back garden, paired with terracotta pots, earthy tones, and olive trees, create a harmonious and character-filled atmosphere—where every element engages in a natural dialogue between architecture and landscape.
